An exceptional "Duc" sofa designed by Mario Bellini for Cassina, Italy, 1976.
A striking example of Bellini's architectural approach to upholstered furniture, the Duc sofa combines bold geometric proportions with extraordinary attention to detail. This example is particularly compelling, upholstered in beautiful white fabric with contrasting black leather trim and piping, creating a dramatic graphic outline that accentuates the sofa's sculptural form.
The interplay of soft white upholstery and sharply defined black leather detailing gives the piece an almost tailored, couture like quality. Generously proportioned cushions and a low, commanding silhouette balance exceptional comfort with a distinctly modernist aesthetic.
An iconic and increasingly sought after design from Bellini's celebrated 1970s period, the Duc embodies the experimental spirit and sophisticated craftsmanship of Italian furniture design.
